Lost Youth C.C.Whitelighter
Where will you sleep tonight, little one? Is someone out there looking for you? Don't you have a home to go to? Some place safe and warm?_ I see the haunted look in your eyes, The sad look on your face, A face older than your years, Stained with bitterness and tears. Perhaps it was neglect or abuse, That compelled you to run from home, Feeling no soul cares or understands Why you look at adults with fear and distaste. I see pain in those eyes, reflected fear at being alone, As you shun the world; society's outcast. Exploited, cast off, you drift, Trying to survive another night, Doing anything to eat and stay alive, While your youth passes by, With our future.
