Longing for the Day C.C.Whitelighter The clock ticked a little louder As it got closer to the time when the postman would come deliver messages from home. Though off duty, still it seemed his body couldn't rest. He thought any moment he'd awake his head lying on her chest. He closed his eyes, Back home the miles vaporized she too closed her eyes to sleep only heaven saw the tears from both began to seep she held his picture close by her head, he inhaled her perfume, fromthe letter he'd just re- read on opposite sides of the world, in silence of absence and longing they both began to weep for the day when longing would erupt into belonging when arms and lips would reunite but for now it would be longing for the day.
